    Hello, Jason:

I got home from sailing tonight, picked up nearly 1000 emails, but
after all the work of unloading the boat, I only have energy to read a few
here and there... sorry I have not read all this thread, yet. I just wanted
to take a moment to comment on your post.

I find it very unfortunate when people recommend denying attention to
the second chakra. It is so important! The second chakra is essential to
bringing the higher chakra perceptions down into daily life.

It is so much more than sex, it is emotions and relationships. All our
relationships, not just romantic ones. The second chakra is also the only
chakra that can store energy. Energy must flow. Muktananda writes in his
book, that the highest attainment is to clear all the chakras and then
descend to live in the second... and it makes sense to me for several reasons.

One is that the crown chakra is actually out of the body, and if you
spend too much time out of your body, then the body becomes frail. It
thinks you have died and begins the task of returning to ashes and dust.
Spending all the time out of the body is denying the body... so, why
incarnate in the first place, to crawl back into the womb?

You will often see this, in how some Yogis who advocate living in the
crown are scornful of the body's natural functions, like sex, food, etc.
They are not really living, they have abandoned the body. Their judgmental
attitude is not the unconditional love that you are experiencing. I find
them to be sometimes lacking in compassion. When the second chakra unfolds
fully, the relationship with our fellow human beings becomes very warm and
all-embracing. There is the wonder of unity, that comes of the crown and
heart, yet also respect for, and wonder in variety and individuality. The
second chakra gives me great appreciation for the amazing qualities of my
fellow human beings, that I do not feel in the remote peace of the crown.

The ability of the second chakra to store energy, also gives stability
to daily life. It is like a back up battery, even if some trauma closes the
crown, the stored energy of the second chakra can sustain grace, so one
does not fall into the shadow self and go nasty from lack of energy and
spiritual connection.

Elsewhere, I have read, and experienced an aspect of the second chakra
that is called the Pearl. One grows a bubble of very concentrated energy,
that rests in front of the chakra itself, between spine and skin. The soul
spark of consciousness moves down and lives within, so that one is both in
a spiritual place of grace, yet still fully present, human, embodied and
enjoying lovely interpersonal relationships.

Being in the crown is being in the Witness state, unemotional... very
peaceful, and essential for the grown process learning detachment and
discernment... but when all centers are opened and functioning then even
pain and suffering can be so beautiful as to make you weep. It is the
amazing loveliness of the human condition, bliss is in all the emotions,
and they are all meant to be experienced, not escaped by hiding in the
Witness all the time. Spending time in the Witness is important, it has
purpose but it can become an attachment to escapism, resistance to really
living life as a full human being... tears, laughter, passion, sweat,
sticky stuff and all.

The heart only knows to love, and it has no boundaries. It is the power
chakra that tells whether actions are karma or dharma. Everyone's love
language is unique, my slaves feel loved when I spank them, but patting my
butt will get you punched, it is an automatic reflex. The heart does not
discern this individuality of love languages. Heart chakra without the
power chakra discerning makes for righteous love that does not respect the
boundaries of individuals.

While on vacation, I re-read one of Carlos Castaneda's books... have
not looked at them in years, and while some of it was not resonant, (so
much dependence on herbs, spirits and rituals! ) yet they were intriguing.
I cannot do some of the things the Yaqui wise men can do, so I am in no
place to judge.

Don Juan's teaching in this book, focuses all attention on the second
chakra as the center of power and Will. It is similar with many martial
arts forms... I wondered if this meant that the magic was all focused on
ego-will, but Don Juan also speaks of being nothing, and how all becomes
folly when one really learns to "see." It reminded me much of how the Zen
Master's experience is described. He also makes fun of Carlos for thinking
too much... too much focus on trying to understand the magic intellectually
is Carlos greatest stumbling block.

There is surrender, in that Don Juan is teaching Carlos at all... he
does it because Mescalito asked him to, and is patient and persistent even
when it seems Carlos is the most inept student ever.

Blessings...
