Subject: [K-list] uncommon to k > "Organized Religions" > false teachers
From: Michael Lindsley

On 2002/09/01 21:14, Michael Lindsley posted thus to the K-list:  * "No offense to anyone's beliefs or religious practices, but
organized christianity is simply a power trip by unprincipled
religion fakers who get a kick out of dominating others.
Christ had no use for this kind of people. They're the ones who
   killed him."

There does seem to be a fair amount of deceptive behavior among
the spiritual "leaders" of the world. I don't think these deceptive
tendencies are limited to christians, however. All the major
organized religions seem to have their share of squabbling,
power-hungry control freaks. As for the smaller groups and cults,
well... it's a jungle out there!
I tend to question the motives of anybody who wants to be my
"leader". It seems to me that many of the greatest spiritual
    /*teachers  */have /
/shown a profound distaste for any sort of leadership role. Didn't
Jesus basically refuse to be "king of the jews"? (or is this a
misperception due to my catholic brainwashing?). I don't think
Ramana Maharishi ever had any major designs on power or control.
This is not to say that leadership is inherently evil. Mother Teresa
("leader" of a "christian organization") seems to have devoted
herself to serving people in need. I somehow can't quite figure what
sort of "kicks" she got from lording it over all those sick and
dying cripples. I sort of doubt that her thrills were derived from
    ego-based control fantasies.
Surprisingly, even the most unappealing "leaders" can sometimes
prove to be excellent teachers! I've had my crown chakra light up
like a blowtorch while reading Da Free John, but I don't think I'd
ever accept him as my leader... heehee... truth is where you find
it... helps if you can be very selective...
As for Jesus, I believe he loved everybody, although he obviously
found certain behavior to be somewhat unattractive. Like Aristotle,
he was killed for telling the truth. Evidently this proved too
threatening to the brainwashed mob, their corrupt spiritual and
political leaders and to the imperial Roman military who actually
crucified him. Truth is dangerous. Truth will set you free. The only
truth you may ever hear in this life may be the small, still voice
of your own conscience. Let it be your guide.
Psssst! Are the voices in my head bothering you?
