He could have done anything he pleased. He said that he could have brought
down 12 legions of angels to save himself if he wanted.

But he consciously and voluntarily chose the hard path, for the sake of
others. The hard path had already been written in the scriptures, there
really was no other way. A seeming paradox, absolutely free yet choosing a
path already written.

So I want to qualify what I said about organized religion, I have met a few
people who work with the poor, who try to help drug addicts, etc. These
people are admirable, they work on the bottom of society, you don't hear
much about them. But they're on the bottom, they don't inhabit the upper
echelons of ecclesiastical authority.

Power corrupts, and as Jesus said, take the lowest place, the greatest is a
servant. But people seem to be fascinated by those who want to lord over
them.

By the way, Buddha was a prince, renounced it, and became a beggar.
