Kriya can be defined as "cleansing divine energy"; yoga can be defined as
"union". So Kriya yoga is "union with cleansing divine energy". There are
several various, but similar definitions used by different groups. It
differs quite significantly from doing mantras for meditation. There is no
chanting involved ( at least where I study), and there is no word or set of
words to be repeated. Mantras are for quieting the mind. If you have
trouble with the kriya meditations, back up and do mantras until your mind is
quiet and you can return to the kriya practice calmly.
