Please look it up in the archives, Joe... sorry, I have a busy day,
heading out of town tomorrow and lots to do.

Did you ever ask them how they choose their students? I doubt they
train just any wanna be who comes along. From all that I have read, the
ones they choose to train, are those who have already shown that it is in
them. Born to it, or chosen by the spirits. In the old days, they might be
called upon to heal a child who was sick, or one who was troubled by
spirits or visions, and recognise the sickness was a side effect of a
natural Shamanic gift, and so adopt that child to be trained.

Just as with most lineages...Michaelangelo was born with his talent,
and it was that natural gift, which earned him an apprenticeship with the
old Masters. The training was to refine and evolve what was already there.

My comment, was in reference to many "new agers" who call themselves
Shaman because they took a course on Shamanism, or decided it was a nice
title to adopt. I doubt the Shaman you know take too kindly to these
either, as they show disrespect to what a Shaman really is.

I think we all know from reading your posts, that you like to be
offended at stuff. I do wonder why you have such a sensitive ego, still, if
the lineage you defend so vigorously has really done its work.

I have been "teacher"... they might call me that, but to me it felt
more like, support person, guide and a hand to hold for two people who
became Shamans because the spirits chose them. One of those was chosen
partly because of ancestry, her grandfather was also a Shaman so it was in
her blood. Born to it, and the spirits lead her to me to have a human to
validate her experiences and offer advice and comfort. Certainly there are
lineages, the predisposition to become a Shaman may run in the DNA, just as
a predisposition to psychic talent can run in families... But one cannot
become a Shaman merely by having a human teacher.

Blessings...
