Or worse, sometimes they really see the person you are. :)

Well... pointing to the Self that lasts forever;
none of us ever see That. We catch glimpses now and then
and go through phases when it seems we're closer to That.

On the personal level, as you suggest, I think it's a
house of mirrors.

This is true. That's because each of our seemingly individual minds
are like cells in a larger Mind. Run a current of energy through
one cell it has an effect on it's neighboring cells.

And there's a real choice a single mind can make
with regard to how it reacts to that energy.

True. Furthermore, others do not view the particular mask
you have on at one time exactly as you do.
(like a comedian that bombs)

We all do that. Seems a safe place to begin is
to honestly ask oneself, do I really know myself or you?
(like you are now)

Now's there space
and there's no telling what might come of that...

That's ok. People's minds seem to be more alive
when it's entertained we might not know
as opposed to a mind that is filled with certainty.
(take that with a grain of salt)
