Ken,

Glad to help in any way I can.

That was the plan the designers of yoga had. "Gentle" is the term to think
when thinking about yoga as well as when doing yoga. They wanted a way to
awaken and raise K but to do it with gentleness and without harm to the
body. There are a number of other ways to raise K I've examined over the
years, either experimenting on myself or in deep discussions with people I
know and trust who practice different ways.

I have real respect for many of the systems. I have respect for the courage
and determination of the followers of some systems, though I wonder about
the sanity of someone who'd subject themselves to the harshness of some
systems without using all possible safety measures.

In general in all of them, "roll your own," is the riskiest road to follow.
A good shamanic teacher paces his students to avoid overload and keep it
from being too rough. Qi Gung/Tai Chi can get prana going great guns and
prana can get K going, here again a teacher helps a lot. I've even looked at
ceremonial magicians (Golden Dawn, etc.) and can tell you it seems to work
pretty well in getting things moving. I know the leaders of a Temple who
often call their approach a "boot camp for spirituality". Believe them.
Their techniques work, and work well, but can be very harsh for some people
unless the Temple has a good Hierophant and adepts to guide the less
experienced and give specific suggestions and alterations to the general
practices. Biggest problem seems to be that path attracts a lot of big egos
who don't listen in general, so when the harsh stuff happens, they don't
listen then either.

That is why I'm always pushing the yoga system, safety. I'm one of those
guys whose car won't start unless everyone has their seatbelt buckled, as
long as I'm the guy withthe key it never will.

Congratualtions! That is as it should be. Many people who achieve
enlightenment aren't able to do that for a long time still.

The best shamanic teacher I'm aware of puts very tight limitations on what
his students can do. Without going into all of the details the major ones
are limits on what you can do for yourself and limits on working remotely
(people/things where the shaman is not present with them when he works on
them). But if you are in the presence of someone who needs help and you can
help without creating a problem you are expected to use your powers to heal
or help that person. It isn't considered to be very optional if the
conditions are met.

Healing is a gift to you that you can only enjoy by giving it to others.
Have fun!

Namaste,
Joe
