Anger is like a wave. Check it out-
You're on your surfboard, waiting for a wave...
A wave comes- you can take it...
Or you can let it pass. The choice is yours.

** This topic seems to have gotten lost in the shuffle, but
** it was a very important lesson I started to learn about
** 10 years ago. I used to be the kind to scream obscenities
** and use crude gestures and even drive faster and more
** unsafe just because other drivers got my juices flowing
** with their ignorance.

** But, you know what? They didn't get my juices flowing at
** all. I allowed myself to become angry, I made that choice.
** And I eventually realized that anger is a poisonous type
** of energy that will draw you up on a false high, then drop
** you like a hot potatoe. My mother, and some others, have
** learned to harness the power of anger for good use. I
** have not reached that place yet.

** But I feel I have a leg up on many others in that I came
** to realize that I am in control of my own emotions. I
** can choose how I wish to react to something. I learned
** about my own sphere of control... that I can control how
** I think, feel, say, do, and, most importantly, react.
** But I can't control the things that come my way. I also
** learned to realize that I have no idea what another
** person's circumstances are. In other words, that person
** who cut me off on the highway might be racing home to an
** injured child. The person who raced in and stole the
** parking spot I've been waiting 10 minutes for might have
** so much on their mind that they didn't notice me. That
** woman who changed 4 lanes without looking might be in
** a cloud of depression and anxiety as she rushes home
** late to an abusive husband.

** So, here's the way I deal with people who used to piss
** me off. I smile, blow them a kiss, and wave. To those
** who need a smile, it makes them feel good. To those
** who are just inconsiderate, it tends to make them angry.
** In any case, I avoid the awful rage and the impending
** low that follows.

** I just thought I'd share my experiences and hope they
** might be helpful to some. =)
