Yes, many of us share your experience. And it is often difficult to
differentiate between the symptoms of Kundalini arousal and
psychosis. Since I didn't know anything about K. when it happened
to me, I just figured I was going crazy. The main difference is,
people who have K. related symptoms retain their normal mental
abilities. Sure, it may scare the crap out of you when you have
visions or hear voices, but you can decide what to have for
breakfast, can feel sorry when you step on your cat's tail, have
insight into problems, etc. Psychotic people have innapropriate
responses to emotional stimuli (such as, laughing at people in
pain), lack insight, come to irrational conclusions, and so forth.
The very fact that you composed this post convinces me that you're
probably not crazy.

What I refer to as the holy spirit is the direct perception of the
divine within me, that overwhelming feeling of bliss associated with
Kundalini rising through the central channel in the spine

Western medicine and science are based almost exclusively on left-
brain rational thought. It is a closed system, limited to external
objective materialism, and facts that can be logically derived by
deductive (interpolation between two known points) or inductive
(extrapolation from a two or more known points) reasoning. The
problem is, the system is limited, and the "facts" are sometimes
based on mistaken or arbitrary conclusions.
Since the symptoms of K. arousal often present you with experiences
that lie outside known objective reality, they generate conflict in
your mind. They disrupt your world model. This happened to me.
When you hit the limit of what you could bear from an expanded
reality, you pulled the eject lever. Naturally, the doctors
probably used drugs that deaden you to everything, as this was their
only tool to deal with the problem.

I'm not sure it really matters. In any event, the voices are just a
tangent, fed by fear. Some people will tell you they are an aspect
of Kali. You will likely find out in time what they are via direct
insight.
Just calmly observe. Be here now. Watch yourself breathe. Listen
to your heart -- feel the compassion that's there. And have
patience. You have been given a rare gift. For me, and for
everyone else I know who has gone through this, the negative
symptoms diminish over time. Eventually, you will be left with
bliss and hightened consciousness, which I hope you will use to help
others.
