Dear Shelle,

This is from an article "Design and Symbolism" (written by a K active friend
of mine) in *Caucasian Prayer Rugs*:
"The Koran refers to the 'seven Heavens'. The eighth Heaven is the
transition between the sensory and the suprasensory world. It can only be
perceived spiritually: ...These heavens form concentric spheres with, for
most Islamic writers, earth at the center."
It's no wonder oriental rugs became very popular during the sixties! :))
