Subject: [K-list] Hypoglycemia

Hypoglycemia (literally, low sugar) is a condition that occurs in
some people naturally, and also in diabetics who have not consumed
enough carbohydrates to balance their insulin intake. Being
diabetic I am intimately familiar with the condition. Hypoglycemia
can be associated with some pretty bizarre thoughts, blind spots, as
well as other less dramatic symptoms, such as, shaking, cold sweats,
and a general feeling of weakness.

The reason I mention this is because I have previously mistaken
hypoglycemia related symptoms for a flash of spiritual insight or a
K. associated event. Actually, I have had some insightful ideas
when experiencing low blood sugar, and insulin therapy has been used
to treat mental disorders (like shock therapy). However, I think
anything beneficial is a secondary reaction to the subconscious
realization that the body is shutting down due to lack of fuel, and
had better concentrate on the essentials needed to sustain life.

I never mistake hypoglycemia for K. any more. They feel completely
different. The light from K. is dynamic and translucent. The blind
spots from hypoglycemia are static, glowing, and opaque. I've heard
some comment about CFS associated with K., but I can't comment on
how that feels. For me, K. events are associated with a clear
feeling of powerful blissful energy in the spine, as well as a
waterfall like roaring sound, a swirling, transparent, inner light,
and an expanded consciousness. This is in contrast to the
hypoglycemic state, where I feel completely drained of energy,
shaky, and usually get the dreaded blind spots.
