From what I understand the astral body is motivated by a higher body
of pure thought. It is to the astral body what the astral is to the
physical. It is possible to separate this but one must be very
advanced. I know many people who strive to wake up on the higher
planes who haven't awoken on the physical, yet. This is like trying
to build a house with no foundation and what is more only building
the attic.
