  FWIW, if you have a yahoo email address..and this means OUTSIDE the yahoo
group you subscribe to, there are several 'pages' of settings that you need
to check on your email account..
on ONE, if you select it-you ARE added to all the advertising that yahoo
wants to send out...

2. there are at least 2 areas, different, on yahoo where you set your
preferences... if BOTH are not checked, then you get 'junk mail'...one of
these has to do with your personal setting when you must 'sign up' with
yahoo in order to join whatever mail list, and the OTHER, is if you have an
actual yahoo email address.
a friend, was gone from town for some days, and asked me to check their
email-they had 186 messages in a weeks time, and of these, 16 were from
people that actually sent an email to them, the rest was 'advertisements'
of one form or another.3... the latest virus's out, (we are assuming person A's computer is
infected) use A's computer, to send you an email, BUT, use the names in his
address book as the header (the FROM) so, you get an email from appearance
wise, person B, whom you DO know, but actually came from someone else
entirely. it 'hides itself'...
