And he's a mad scientist from Tasmania to boot!
I still fondly remember his article about the Sidney
Olympics. I watched the closing ceremonies on TV
and was just as inspired. Ok, you know I'm a sucker
for public spectacle and a good fireworks show, but
sometimes a event really does warrant spiritual
metaphors. We take what we can get and see it as
something positive (even if it's a bit far fetched at
times)... that's what I like about the K list.

(sound of guitar strumming with spoken narration)

"And so I left the old Doc's office and
took the sad new back to my honey and
little Billy... yes, it was little Billy who ran
up to me and said, 'Daddy, mommy says
you can't work in the coal mine any more
and you'll be going away soon... can I go
  with you?' "

Does anybody need a hankie yet?

It took me a lifetime time to understand that.
We do take for grated that on this list we can say
"life has no meaning" and it rings like a bell. Now
go out on the street and tell someone that and
you'll likely to get stuff like, "ok, whatever,"
"life must have meaning," or "you're full of BS."

Life doesn't have to have "meaning" to do what it does.
That we recognize its forms, abundance and
vulnerability... and give it *value,* gives us a
bundle enough.

I once asked a Christian friend what they would do if
they woke up one morning, opened the Bible for their
daily guidance and all the pages were blank... all the old,
sacred texts simply vanished from the earth... all the religious
people had to wing it - play it by ear. She was upset by
the question and quickly changed the subject.

Stories can be good, though. We all love culture and folklore.
The trouble starts when we take them too seriously.

Indeed it Is.

And blessings to you, Mystress and good company,

Paul

PS. What's all this about tofu?
I makes a mean stir fry, but beyond
 that, I don't get it.
