Rich, almost a year ago I left my employer 24 Hour Fitness. I was a personal
trainer and the Fitness Manager of one of their smaller clubs. The focus of
their sales effort was the cutthroat relentless use of methodically taught
psychological tricks to basically pigeon hole a person or brainwash a person
into buying. If we did not convince somebody to purchase training services
and literally take their last dime, we were brow beaten by our higher ups.
Fierce competition between clubs and an unrealistic set of goals (bonus
plateaus) for many clubs existed. The longer I was their the more anxiety I
felt over my job description. A good trainer wants to help people.
Overextending peoples means is not helping people. They also insisted on
trainers pushing all of their processed supplements. Being a naturalist,
that was problematic as well. I was not allowed to recommend anything they
did not sell. I know many foods and herbs that can do the same trick as
their supps.

My point is to be careful what and how you sell or you could be inviting K
problems. Also remember, the laws of Karma do apply.

Saying that, here are a few good books that are more genuine in their sales
approach. They tend to focus on actually caring. If your customers feel or
sense that you really do care and you really and genuinely are looking to
help them, then if they have the means, they will buy. They are all
classics.

"The World's Greatest Salesman", by Og Mandino

"How to Win Friends and Influence People", by Dale Carnegie

"How to Sell Like an Ace and Live Like a King", Author ?, my copy I loaned
out was never returned. If anybody stumbles upon this book at a garage sale
or used book shop, I would pay you for it and shipping. My personal library
really misses it. :-(Light and Love
