Dear Nicole,

Well, Hatha Yoga, especially when it is combined with the accompanying
breathing exercises, can be every bit as powerful as meditation.

Well, once awakened it *is* permanently awakened [but then, in a sense, we
are all, always awake!], but people differ in how it continues to be felt.
Krishnamurti had his initial Kundalini experience and then experienced nearly
nightly energy for years. He called some aspects of it "the process." A
very apt phrase, IMO.

You might want to look at the poll on progression of K energy

and/or qualities of K energy:

Most people's experience seems continuous after the initial K experience, at
least in some degree. But for some people the energy becomes imperceptible.
There are those who feel this is a positive development--that the energy has
finished its work, and that even Bliss is an indication that they haven't
reached "enlightenment." Others enjoy the energy so much that they keep it
going with meditation and/or Hatha yoga or other practices, or it simply
continues on its own. We are in no hurry :)) Impatience is one of the
hurdles to get through! :)) The energy knows what it is doing. If it has
gone into hibernation, that is OK.

Simply because it is, for many, *a process.* For some "Awakening" it can be
pretty instantaneous. For Krishnamurti the initial experience took about 3
days, but it was still ongoing from there. I think it depends on the force
of the initial experience, and/or the person's background. There can be a
lot of unresolved issues that are released. Surrender, or lack of it as Asa
noted certainly plays a large part. But it may simply be a matter of
chance--how the body/psyche responds to the released energy.

Love, Hillary
