Very simple ..

Past life images, personality archetypes and ancestral images -
take your pick - they all come out with this and other types of
exercises - as do the images of people projected on to you - for
example if your mother (for example) secretly wishes you will
look like or be or behave like xyz, you could manifest the image of xyz.

Also - if you have a guru, or a master, or even a deep attachment
to an author, all of these images can come up - complete with
distortions as to how your unconscious reacts/responds to them.

Differentiating between them - and what they are is the real trick.

Now - if you want to scare the wits out of yourself, I could post
an exercise involving a mirror and a candle ...

Oh .. the other thing that can come up are images of deities with
whom you have a resonance, but these deific beings are merely
symbols of some archetype seeking expression.

and yes - as you release all attachments and clear all of your
unconscious belief system, they will gradually fade away ..

until, one day, you can look into the pupil of your own eye and
see nothing - not even the wll behind the mirror
