There are great similarities with what is taught in Kriya yoga and in
Drunvalo's book. The thing that is interesting, is that you mention that the
7 chakras above the 7 "regular" ones are located in the astral dimention,
which is the first place a person goes when they die or when they fall
asleep according to many books.

Hi Lillian

In my study of Kriya yoga it is taught that there are seven chakras above
the
crown chakra and then three more energy centers (not really chakras but
divine sources of energy) above those. I have heard in other schools of
thought that there are three more below your root chakra and that these are
your connection (grounding) to the Earth. Meditating on each of these
singularly will strengthen both the chakra and your awareness of it,
provided
that you are already well of aware of the functioning of the seven inside
your physical body.

The seven above your head comprise your astral body and when these are
energized will allow travel in various dimensions like the "astral plane"
and trigger the development of the siddhas or "psychic powers". Reaching
awareness of the three above those require you to ignore your astral
awareness and seek deeper, just as being aware of your astral body requires
that your ignore your physical body and seek the new experience of the
astral. This is a very simplistic explanation, but being thorough would
require a great deal of space. And anyway I've only been studying a few
months so I do not feel I have the credentials to expound much more than I
have.:^)
