His name is Morihei Ueshiba, and yes, he had certainly
had experienced the Zero Experience
(anthropomorpholigal jargon for Nirvikalpa Samadhi or
the Supremely Awakened state) atleast a couple of
times. Aikido is an internal art involving lots of
visualization and the use of the Inner Power, Ki,
which Mystress terms the Sky Energy. Aikido is also
based on Shinto, the indegenous animistic religion of
Japan, and does rely on the protection/patronage of
Bujin, the Animal Spirits.

Aikido (like Kung Fu and Chi Kung) but unlike Karate,
Jiu Jitsu & Judo, is an internal martial art. People
who practice the external martial arts involving lots
of competition and proactive/excessive violence,
cannot rise much above their 3rd chakras, so IMHO
their K experience is incomplete. Most Martial Arts
involve grounding, centering and extending, which are
achieved by developing the first 3 chakras in that
order. A true Martial Artist is one who tries his/her
best to avoid violence and uses his art for Peace and
Harmony rather than otherwise. In order to cultivate
such an approach, he has to develop his Heart Chakra,
the 4th chakra. And only such a person can go beyond
to the higher chakras.
