Subject: [K-list] Wisdom teeth
 > Well my lovely K friends, I had quite an experience today! I went to an
oral surgeon with the intention of getting my wisdom teeth out. Since I was
having all four wisdom teeth out and one was wrapped around a nerve I chose
to have laughing gas and a local anisthetic. This way I could tell him if he
touched my nerve during the extraction.
> On the way to the office I did grounding techniques in the car and noticed
I was not afraid. Right before I walked into his office however I started to
have some pretty intense kriyas. The woman behind the desk just thought I
was really nervous because my whole body was shaking so much. By the time I
sat down in his chair I felt nervous, but gratefully the kriyas had stopped.
I started to inhale the laughing gas and he gave me five shots of novocaine.
My heart rate sped up form the gas but eased shortly and this was a normal
side effect. However, my body started shaking and thrashing shortly after.
I'm used to this type of thing since it happens in my experience of K. I am
not used to it at the dentists office though. I continued thrashing,
convulsing, and making sounds for the next 20- 30 minutes, and my husband
had to come in to make sure I didn't hit my head against anything. I was
totally conscious the whole time but of course, I couldn't control my body.
> The very kind oral surgeon didn't know what to do. He kept asking me if I
wanted him to call the ambulance or if I needed to go to the hospital. My
response to that was "hell no!" The last thing I needed was to be sedated
and restrained. I insisted that I would be fine and I just needed to ride
this out. He was open to the idea of K but could only relate what I was
doing to his experience with other patients. He said it looked like
convulsions except I was fully conscious and even at time laughing and
making fun of myself. It became obvious to us both that I wasn't going to be
able to have my teeth out because he wasn't able to work on a "moving
target."

> I am sharing this because it was quite a wild experience and also to let
you know that I have had this experience with laughing gas. If any of you
are planning to get your wisdom teeth extracted you might consider exploring
other means of sedation.
