Subject: [K-list] Language
From: Rich

On 2002/03/30 03:28, Rich posted thus to the K-list: I just realised that the language we use forms the structure of our
thinking as well as defining ourselves and our experience of life.
Language itself can shape so much of what we are. It's so basic that we
don't even question it but beneath language there is formless
experience. I guess it really comes down to our judgements and
interpretations, which because of our continual use of, becomes fixed
patterns of (mental) behaviour.

We use language as a medium to communicate our experience but this isn't
as rich as what might come through empathy and telepathy. I think we
have cut ourselves off from these capacities to a degree. A lot of
language has been shaped by the people in power and it so seems that in
certain cultures the language defines the hierarchical relationships or
structures within the culture (e.g. japanese, thai, chinese).

However we could not do without language as it is so vital for conveying
meaning and clarity but its only lack is its limited granularity and
energy/time requirement to transfer rich meaning.

My thought for today, written in english :o)

Back to empty mind and no thought - I should start a demonstration - a
silent one of course :o)
