Subject: [K-list] some more thoughts on "sacrifice"
From: Mia

Hi everybody....:-)

i'm turning the term " sacrifice" around in my mind and in my soul.....
i have some more thoughts and feelings about it to share.
Please keep in mind that English is not my mother tongue and that i can be a little tricky to speculate
about a certain word in a foreign language. Besides that it's my subjective and personal understanding of this topic and not more.

I was wondering * who* it is that uses the label " sacrifice" on something.
The person him or herself?
In my understanding sacrifice is based on a choice. If i have no choice, there is no sacrifice, because something simply needs to be done and i do it.
If i have a choice i can make a decision.
I can do one or the other or none or something else.
If i label something i did a " sacrifice", i obviously would have prefered to do something else?
So why did i do what i label a " sacrifice"?
to prove something? To demonstrate something?
Because it is expected of me?
Because * i* expect it of myself?

I'm not sure a person gains something out of my sacrifice. If i turn the roles around and put myself into the role of the " taker" and something comes with the message: " but that's a sacrifice for me" ......
-hm....... i'm not sure i would like to get something like that.
I would feel, somebody gives something to me and takes it away again in the same moment. Whatever i'm getting seems to have a price attached to it.
The price would be " gratitude" or " recognition" or neediness or attachment for example.

If i do something for an other person it never feels like a sacrifice to me, because i do what i do out of love. It's my decision and my choice, so where is the sacrifice?
If somebody else thinks ( which is what they quite often do), i'm sacrificing a lot for others, i tell them, they are wrong.
I do exactly what i want to do and therefore it's no sacrifice.

love to all
mia
