Subject: [K-list] Re: Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle

The Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle is very adeptly explained in the following
article:

  http://www.aip.org/history/heisenberg/p08.htm

There are two pieces of interest to our discussion here: the first, that any
observation and interpretation of a natural phenomena, no matter how precisely
executed, is always imperfect; and second, that no concepts in nature can be
considered real until they *are* observed and interpreted.

Heh...roll *that* up and smoke it.

In English, my interpretation of Heisenberg's ideas is that any interpretation
of a phenomena is biased by the methods used to observe that phenomena. Thus,
the act of observing something may not causally change the object under
investigation (but it might!), but the act of observing *does* reflect the
biases of the observer, the tools, the context, etc. And, of course, any
observation is by definition an approximation, thus imperfect.

There are many other interpretations, including those which believe in a single
objective reality, a dualistic reality, a massive-but-finite number of
realities, etc.

I personally think of reality as an interactive proposition. We exert an
influence on reality with our will. We create abstractions of reality with our
senses and our minds. We act on our abstractions, and the universe responds.
We tap into sources of higher and lower consciousness, trying to see the same
stuff with better eyes. We exist, and that carries an inertia all itself.

Add the "massive-but-finite parallel universes" idea of quantum reality, and the
dream theory becomes a much more interesting concept.

Are we the dream or the dreamer? Hmmm....

We are certainly the dreamer. But who is dreaming us? Perhaps we are part of a
fabric of nested dreams in some multidimensional fractal thought-image....

TILT. My brain just blew a fuse. I need to go find my flashlight.
