Not an easy undertaking. 
Mostly I just focus on diving deep into 'feeling' the critter that has popped 
to the surface for attention.  Own ALL of it as MINE. ( the situation, the 
feelings of being controlled by the circumstances or whatever)...then take 
those feelings as the gifs that they are in some way even though I don't 
understand them yet, go home and listen to music with headphones on / 
meditation whatever, and allow the REAL feelings behind them to explode / 
'blossom' (toungue in cheek)... 
...simple eh! 
( yes that was a Canadian slip of the tongue...and no,...I am not for 
sale...due to those definite tendencies of...how was it put earlier on the 
list....stubborn and opinionated....:0) ....yep! )  LOL
 
Just know that you are not alone in all this stuff ASter.  Sometimes just 
knowing that helps.
