On 2002/01/10 11:30, Joseph Miller posted thus to the K-list: I'm back on the list after being away for a couple of years so I'm not clear
on the details that prompted the post I'm responding to. I'm responding to
the words as written, free of background. So if someone peed on her shoes,
I'm not taking up for you, OK.

Who the hell said anything about being "non-judgemental"?

"If your mind is too open all your brains will run out" is a old saw that
has a lot of truth, a whole lot.

In India I found Westerners, particularly Americans (but you Canadians
aren't far behind), to be considered too stupid to teach by many teachers.
Oh, they'd let folks hang around and listen to lectures, they'd treat them
politely, even let some stay at the ashram, but not really teach them
because they say, "They lack discrimination!" They considered
discrimination to be the one key mental facility necessary for any
advancement and as a group we don't exhibit it.

"All paths are equal" says "Nothing matters" and that is not true. Some
stuff is pure crap and should be labeled as such.

Interesting I left not too long before that, in part, because I found "New
Age" stuff seemed to be heading toward becoming the "main stream" on this
list. Guess it didn't happen.

I'm on a local list for people of "Alternative Religions" the term among
Wiccans on that list for what I idenitfy as "New Age" is "fluff bunny" which
captures the essense of what I mean when I use the term "New Ager" and I
always use it as a pejorative. It reflects a lack of discrimination, a lack
of questioning, true intellectual sloth and unwillingness to face reality so
they don't look for the truth. They just accept what someone tells them.

No, and it shouldn't be. See above.

You bet it is! OK it should be done politely but horse-sh*t is horse-sh*t.
If someone is serving it up for dinner failing to point that out is NOT
compassion, it is a very malefic act.

Namaste,
