Hello Percyval on the Hill and Rebeckah,

I'm perhaps one the one's who seemed to be New Age
bashing. And, yes, I'm a fine one to talk because I would
be considered new age in other's eyes.

A lot of the backlash comes from seeing all these ads
in the spirituality magazines for Light this and Light that...
*Come learn from Master Duwi Drambui.... embrace
your inner teddy bear!* *see registration form below*
There are hundreds and hundreds of the these ads and
announcements in the west coast editions of the Whole
Person catalogue and Whole Life Times (etc.) every
month available free at newsstands everywhere.

But somehow, the number of people walking down the
street who would claim to have been helped by the commercial
spiritual industry seems disproportionate to the volume of
services offered. One would think it would be as common
to overhear people talking in a restaurant about their
enlightenment as it would be the weather or the situation
in Afghanistan.

Could it be that the Divine Duwi Drambuis of the western
world aren't all they're cracked up to be?

I don't know.

One thing I know is that spiritual practices do work. My
words here are influenced by perspective and are not
meant to be hateful. I'm employed part time at a Wiccan
book shop. New Agers would call my friend's paths "dark"
while my boss, in turn, calls new agers "fluff bunnies." It's
all just talk. Actually, I sense a quiet undercurrent of
affection between the two parties.

The "them" vs. "us" here is of the harmless variety. Kind
of like two teams playing ball at a picnic. Different colors
for different sides.... but playing the same game.
Ultimately there is no "them vs. us."

I don't tell too many people this, but part of my awaking
experience was believing that there was a massive wave
of consciousness expanding, divine energy sweeping
across the world.... literally. At first I thought it was the
Second Coming happening before my eyes. I couldn't
keep such a wonderful news to my self and naturally, my
friends thought, "Paul's really gone off the deep end."
Classic spiritual emergency ;-)

That was four years ago. The K psychosis has long
subsided and now I look back and realize something:

I was right!

The Kingdom of Heaven is here!

It never left to go anywhere in the first place, dummy!
