Probably because they seem to be quite different phenomena! :))

When you make *categorical* statements such as, "Actually, what those are is
the blood vessels in your eyes," you are liable to get a vexed response from
those who have discounted this as the explanation of what is "visually"
happening to them. For a neat series of visual phenomena from people on this

I don't think most of these are "blood cell" related! :))

Reality checks are always welcome but not when they catagorically discount
other possibilities.
