Dear Dan,

Good to hear from you again! :))

Another researcher (or the same one?), Pim van Lommel talking about his
recent Netherland's NDE study (published in the Lancet) explained how
consciousness can be independent of brain function thusly: "If you open the
TV set, you will not find the program. The TV set is a receiver. When you
turn off your TV set, the program is still there but you can't see it. When
you put off your brain, your consciousness is there but you can't feel it in
your body."

So where exactly is consciousness! LOL Just part of the energy of the
universe, perhaps.

And how extraordinary this is! Amazing really that the body/brain has been
programmed to have the potential of "receiving" experiences beyond our
wildest imaginings. What caused this programming? I certainly don't know.

Does it matter? The very fact we all exist *now* seems miracle enough for
me! Perhaps belief in reincarnation is the last refuge of the ego!

big deal. They do not mean anything to me. They are not alive right now,

One indication of a profound K experience is *doubt.* From Gopi Krishna, to
Jesus, to Krishnamurti--they all doubted at one time or another. It sort of
comes with the territory. To experience something so *unbelievable* as K
means at some point we have to doubt the reality of the experience. I think
just about all of us go through it! LOL.--doubting the "knowing" that we
are/will be "safe" throughout eternity. It's probably our *ego* trying hard
to hold onto itself and its perception of importance and uniqueness. Why do
*we* care about eternal life? Once we lose the self, the energy of the
universe is what becomes important because it is what we are all a part
of--where the joy/bliss/love is.

Perhaps that's the cosmic joke--that there *is* no point. There doesn't
need to be. It is enough, simply, to BE. Your heart is perhaps more knowing
than your brain.

Speaking of depression, this is the time of year when so many people go
through a SAD syndrome--when the days are short. Do some list members have
some methods they would like to share to ease the pain of states such as the
void, dark night, and general "emotional kriyas"?

Love, Hillary
