Greetings to the list. Been a while since I have posted. This will ramble a
little, but would greatly like to share this will all.
Faith is the corner stone commodity of those K awakened. Without it, you´d
go nuts.
I challenge faith, god, spirit, goddess and a spiritual existence.
What if… saw a discovery program on Near Death Experiences. Great thing
about NDE is that science is finally researching this phenomena.
They discovered that children are highly prone to have NDE´s – 1/3rd more
likely that adults.
That children have visions of the white light, speaking to god, relatives –
and that children, for the most part do not have a preconceived notion of
what they should see, or heaven and the after life.
They described the experience of a child, who was blind, who had an NDE as
SAW for the very first time.
Then they described the experience fighter pilots have during training for
extreme gravity (G´s), in which they black out and have an NDE like
experience.
They are tracking down responses in the brain on how the brain prepares the
body / mind for death and that the NDE experience is hard wired into us to
comfort us in our last moments. Kind of like an animal that knows its going
to die finding place to do that. A recent article in several magazines , I
found it in readers digest, shows how the brain is hard wired for religion.
They took several Franciscan Nuns and Zen Buddhists and did experiments on
them while they were meditating. They waited for the these people to reach
an “ecstatic” stage in their mediation., The person pulled a string and they
were pumped with x-ray materials vi IV into their systems. Then they were
scanned.
The research on the Monks, nuns, pilots, drug users (such as acid, X,
mushrooms) showed that certain parts of the brain become uninhibited and the
brain starts to have massive chemical reactions. The visual and memory areas
of the brain are affected first (they are theorizing that people who have
NDE;s have strong activity in those parts of the brain, since brain activity
continues for about 15mins after the end of respiration ). The sensation
produced, are weightlessness, a sense of floating, euphoria, OBE type of
sensations, tunnel vision with a light at the end of it, memory triggers.
Its all in the brain, the brain is causing the experiences.
One researcher said, yes these things happen, but its more like the brain is
re-tuning itself to a frequency that is always existing around us. A more
metaphysical explanation.
Perhaps this all belongs on a philosophy discussion group, but our
collective experience on this list, on a scientific level, indicates that we
are accessing different parts of our brain that most are not using. That by
who we are, shaped by our life´s, have paid attention and learned through
what ever triggers to “fire” of the chemical reactions in our brain. Heat in
chakras heat from healing hands – its all heat in the body. There is a
strong physiological component with K from sickness to welts to high states
of being.
Anyway… getting to my point. Do we have a soul? Is their really an
afterlife. We have spoken of past lives on this list, and their various
manifestations, of what they might be. All I know is that I have no memory
of a past before this life. I´ve had vivid images and tantalizing hints of
possibility. That the psychic phenomena, the visual effects the tingles in
my body, the telepathy, all of it, you name it , can be explained by saying
it comes from our brains – that it is a mystery of function.
But really. If my soul is eternal, but my egos dies here whats the point.
What will I remember? Nothing.
All the ancient knowledge, all the philosophies, the masters, the teachers –
big deal. They do not mean anything to me. They are not alive right now,
their knowledge their teaching has certainly influence my life and BELIEF
Systems, but my hope, my prayers has been the prospect of eternal life. I am
not saying that science is explaining it away, but one aspect of it is that
it does explain the religious mystical experience.
Apparitions of Mary or ghosts is our brain interpreting signals that we are
picking up and have to interpret through filters of our understanding. The
collective energy of humanity since we are all energy means that the brain
is hardwired to sense and collect these energies. All of it in some way can
be explained.
But none of it bodes well for the prospect for me of eternal life. Some
would say that is the product of faith. Faith in the eternal life. If I
can´t remember it, the people I have loved – unless it some obscure “soul”
recognition what ever the hell that is – whats the point. Go live life and
make it full? What for, if I am a collection of chemicals and neurons firing
to create both my gods and my religion and that memory only exists with the
creation of a mixed version of myself and another passing down the genetic
history and memory of our race and things that made us?
I do not want this to sound morbid, depressing. I know many on this list
have cultivated, live by their UNSHAKABE FAITH in their god/dess and
experiences and prayers and well being and love.
Since my K started, I have believed and lived with the notion of eternal
life. My heart still will not relinquish the idea, the belief in it. I
guess, with all the searching I have done, NDE´s the mystical experience , I
have looked for the clues, to put together the puzzle and see what is real.
I´m still looking….
Of those who read this, only a few would respond. What to really say. If you
have your faith and you live with that love, that you need not say anything
because you cannot explain faith. Others will tell me of other scientific
research on this or that, which is always knowledgeable but science is like
everything else, A ship out at sea getting tossed around –except that it has
achieved some things in the past 100 years that should not be ignored
(besides the raping of the plant due to progress – sorry I´m a cynic at
heart) . But to me it goes beyond the science. I will not know what its like
to die until I do it and at the point this whole argument is moot. A mystic
would say that forgetfulness is the best gift God ever gave us, to not
remember the countess immortal counting of time and the agony and joy if it
both., The master would say, grow up its all love anyway and let go of your
ego and become God. I can go on forever. Hopefully I will…..
