I don't remember the name of the movie, but Anthony Hopkins was in it. It's
the one where he lived with the apes for a time and was returned to society
to live in prison. In one scene with, I believe, Danziel Washington, they
are alone. Anthony takes over total control of the room. He asks Danziel
what he took from him. Danziel responds with things like, freedom to move,
right to leave, etc. In the end it was his Illusions. Illusions of
security.

Fits in well with what you are discussing. Security is an illusion.

When in highschool I had the good fortune to visit Berlin. This is before
The Wall fell. In East Berlin a group of us met two men. One from East
Berlin, the other from Czecazlovakia. Now keep in mind that for every
civilian there were two guards. I remember seeing some on rooftops, most
were for The Wall, of course. But the Czech was very nervous trying to get
his buddy to leave us. The Berlinier said that his friend feared being
interrogated afterwards. He then said that, "He had learned to live with
his fears." That struck deep within me. When we left we gave him all our
East Berlin money(at least I gave him all of mine). It wasn't allowed out
of the country anyways. Some snuck it across, heh heh.

I don't know if this will be of benefit to you Susan, but it was an
interesting experience for me.
