Thank you for your thoughts on this thread, Nick... I went through some
stuff in deciding what my rates would be, for my healing services... and in
the end, I am charging the same hourly rate as I did when I was a
Pro-Dom... The work, and the results of the work are priceless and
miraculous. I had no idea how to put a price on them... I cannot put a
price on Goddess' work, but my time and attention, I have priced, before.
I cannot think of any reason why my time would be worth less if I am
healing and teaching, than if I am spanking and tying. You'd think it
ought to be worth more, if anything. Even if I do not wear the thigh high
boots.

There is a wonderful woman named Morgana, a past list member who was
very supportive of me making the shift to pro-healing. She too, was
basically backed into a corner by Goddess before she surrendered to the
career. She has said to me, "our work is worth rubies".. and she is
correct. What price, miracles?

Morgana is excellent, I have hired her many times, and she is more
expensive than me! No regrets. I'd offer a link, but I see her site is
down... she has just gotten married and moved to another state, that is
probably why.

One thing she said to me, regarding the many who come to her asking for
free or discounted services, (and I am still learning to integrate it, as a
discipline) was "It is not my job to validate their scarcity
consciousness." Very profound. If a potential client is carrying a belief
that the world is not abundant, and will not provide enough for them to pay
me for my work, then does it really serve them for me as the teacher, to
validate that belief by working for free or at a discount from what I feel
I am worth? Does it really serve either of us?

I know a Wiccan law is to not charge for spiritual teaching, but that
rule comes from the days when money was rare and barter was the norm. The
healer and spiritual leaders were supported by the community, everyone
tithed towards their support.

In the East, it is considered normal and proper to reward the Guru for
their attention, and these gifts are a metaphor for laying your worldly
goods at the Guru's feet. In the West, most churches want a tithe of 10%,
and even marriage services come at a set price.

So where did this idea come from, that spiritual services ought to be
free? I know, I carried it for a long time too, and I am still processing
the layers of it. It represents an artificial separation of the spiritual
world from the physical world... exactly the attitude that the K-process
demolishes. Goddess is All that Is. Goddess is money, too.

Of course, I am not disciplined, I still do a lot of work for free, and
trust Goddess to handle the accounting. She does, my basic needs are always
cared for... but it seems that in trusting Goddess within me to provide for
other people, I am invalidating the ability of Goddess within my clients to
provide. Validating their scarcity consciousness and getting burnt out on
altruism, myself. Hmm... it is not win/win, we are both losing.

Just some more thoughts that floated up.. it is an issue I have been
working on for years. I agree with Susans comment that how people see money
shows a lot about how they feel about God. Everything reflects everything
else.
 Blessings...
