Keep in mind that the Afghan pipeline, if, that's*if* it was constructed
would still only be a
trickle in the overall supply. America's two
biggest suppliers are Arabia and Canada.
In comparison, the Afghan connection is
not worth spending billions in a military
operation that would kill thousands of people,
destabilize the world and vilify the US.
If nothing else, remember that America has
become rather image conscious in the last
30 years (Viet Nam was a big lesson).

The document is not an agenda. It's simply
a summary of possible alternate routes of oil
from the Caspian Sea that would involve a
number of different competitors from a number
of different countries.
Christopher, "the material making the rounds,"
conspiracy theories, are just that; *conspiracy
theories.* If you choose to think that the US
is a sinister empire out to dominate the world
and oppress the helpless masses, then you will
find plenty of material to support that.
The real problem lies in our (the human race)
dependence on fossil fuel. The entire world
pumps it into their cars and factories. People
buy the stuff from whatever oil company in
whatever country it comes from. (Ben
Laden's family fortune didn't come from
donations from poor villagers... it came from
an oil rich Middle Eastern economy).
We all have to do what we can to promote
alternative sources of power. We talk about
the current conflict and America's greed for
oil, but look at the bigger picture. If *all*
nations of world continue buying oil and
polluting the air, sea and soil, there won't be
a planet left to squabble on.
We'll get what we deserve, but the countless,
beautiful other life forms that are perishing as
I write this are the innocent ones in this
tragedy.
