Hi Serena - just wanted to say I identify with a lot of what you said. I wasn't exactly sacked, but rather put in a situation where I no choice but to leave the high pressure media job I'd loved for 10 years - but that had also burnt me out and unbalanced my life.

That was 6 years ago and it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I changed everything in my life - left London (which I'd only ever tolerated for the sake of work), went travelling, lived on a tropical island for 8 months, met and lost the love of my life within 8 weeks, had two major depressive breakdowns, Dad got cancer then revealed I had a half brother, my family finally got reconciled after 20 years of internal silent breakdown, I brought my first house in a smaller city I didn't know, but was intuitively led to, and have tentatively started working freelance in a new downshifted flexible way. And I got over the man, who is now a greatly treasured friend.

Well it's been bloody traumatic but well worth it - my house is great, this city (Bristol, UK) is great, I've met great people without even having to try - such a sense of flow. Have still to get the work off the ground but that hasn't been my main focus up until now - but even in that area, synchronicities are/have been taking place, pointing out new directions I hadn't previously thought of. I am finally in the right place, doing the right things with the right people. It is absolutely fantastic.

So take heart and trust - there may be unheaval but I bet your bottom dollar you won't look back.
