This post brought forth another possibility for this "emptiness"...

Why this desire to fill the emptiness? And what would you propose to
fill it with?

Could a feeling of "emptiness", in another mindset, also be the
feeling of "space", a freedom from "having stuff in" the heart? A
clear and open heart... no need to refill it.
