Yup, it is just your creative mind playing with the noise... like
staring at a tiled floor till the tiles start to dance and arrange
themselves into patterns.

Yep.. I associate it with a spiritual visitor, and on one occasion I
know it happened while someone was dreaming of visiting me. Generally,
Angels are my doormen, and send away a lot of stray ghosts etc. without
needing my attention, by my request. Some visiting beings have to knock to
and ask to come in. Sometimes if I open the door at these times, looking
for the source of the sound, I feel a breeze brush past me. I tell the
angels to keep an eye on whatever came in, and go back to sleep... sort it
out later.

Reading this made me crack up laughing. So your Divine Beloved shows
up as John fucking Wayne! ROTFLOL!!! That is so perfect.
