Subject: [K-list] be careful...

On 2001/09/22 12:43, Nina posted thus to the K-list: I read this banner in a bookstore storefront daily on my way to work,
a PFLAG banner, but it pertains to a broader spectrum:

Be careful who you hate. It may be someone you love.

Last night a peace rally met in downtown Pritchard Park, Asheville,
NC. A small group compared to the throngs out partying at the
Downtown after 5 centered on Pack Square, but an interesting group in
the variety of people represented.

George and Alice, my neighbors, were seated in the park, watching the
affair, listening to the singing, smiling, holding funnel cake they
brought back from the Downtown after 5 event. I stood with them a
while, wondering what these two ardent Republican Baptists could be
thinking about this affair. They complied with my unspoken request by
piping up with shining support of the rally... not because they
agreed with the sentiment... but because they appreciate that in the
burg we live in, people will get out, congregate, and express
perspectives while leaving room for all the others.

Thanks, George and Alice, for the reminder...

Nina
