Hi,
I found quite intersting, the variety of responses (to my message "my
book !").
Some found it humorous, some insightful, some criticised, some
suggested that she should throw me out, some were kind, some meant
that I had a blessed life, some thought I should leave her, some told
me what 'spirituality' is and what is not, some shared their
insights, some appreciatted the sharing of such events from one's own
life, some pointed to a woman's need for romance in order to feel
related, some meant that enjoyment is one thing while attachement is
another, some thought that my not getting angry was compassionate,
someone concluded I suffer from latent homosexuality, someonelse
said, he had lots of spiritual books, so he was wondering whether my
girlfriend had a sister ...
Some :-) and some :-( and some in between.
The story behind scene, is, as far as I can see it, like this :
Have you ever let your ego speak ? ..non-selectively..
and without much identification ?
and let even the most secondary and weak tendencies, be heard ?
I think that the mind tends to be rather selective in its ego
expression. It chooses only what one is definitely convinced about..
an analysis based exclusively on certain views only..(mostly
conditioned,.. but 'reasonable', respectable, 'spiritual').. those
found right by one's so called super-ego or the 'observer/Censor'.
But looking closer, one may find that one contains just about the
whole of variety of ego-expressions/views, common to the rest of
mankind's consciousness.
And witnessing this show, with all its absurdities, paradoxes,
contradictions, seems to me to be a very special form of humor.. it
is simply, hilarious !..
And in revealing that, thru verbalized sharing for example, one sees
that it is not only for the sake of humor in itself that one speaks,
but its being only a
a sideeffect of the action of a non-selective, but truth searching,
light of awareness on 'things as they are'.
Then, one can see that it is not JB's or X's personal idiosyncries
and modes of action that the story is about.. but a sample of a great
majority of humanity's consciousness, including perhaps one's own.
And so, implied in the ability of such 'personal' sharing, is a form
of honesty (the not-me/you model, but the truth as-is) and a minimal
identification and dualistic (good/bad) thinking. Otherwise, it is
impossible to do it. And otherwise, one just settles for using only
one of one's 10 fingers (usually the pointer or the middle one..) to
point.. at the 'other'.
..Possibly because to see all of one's 'fingers', would be very
confusing.. perhaps one needs the feeling of certainty of
knowing 'where one stands'.. that one Is a some-thing/body with a
definite view.. so one sticks to one single 'finger', until somehow,
another sticks out.. as in when one "changes one's opinion/mind"..
and then one agrees with a new group of same-finger-stickers, while
feeling somewhat proud that "wow,..I have really changed !"..
to someThing, Else.
And perhaps, my posting, has been a meeting of many 'fingers'..
and perhaps that's why, there have been so many various 'fingers',
replying ..
And the One-finger-holders, may be should ask themselves : "WHAT, do
I Really Know ?!" ..
I for one, welcome the revelation of many fingers, and the what-is of
their comic-tragic show..
That though, might be,
_my, single pet-'one&only finger' ..
..for this moment.
So here we-I are.
