On 2001/09/17 07:35, Hbarrett47 posted thus to the K-list: Beautiful post, Paul. Jerry, please don't leave! And I agree with Susan
about agreeing to disagree. I think I'm going to go back and read some of
Thich Nhat Hanh's teaching about how he and his fellow monks learned to hold
both sides in a soft embrace of compassion during the Vietnam War. I feel
the suffering of New Yorkers, Afghanis who have been crippled (and mostly
widowed) under the Taliban regime, Pakistanis still living in refugee camps,
women who feel oppressed under fundamentalist Muslim societies (not all do),
the firefighters who still dig, those with so little sense of future and hope
that they are eager to go to war, those who feel helpless because their fates
seem to be controlled by the United States, and the families of those
secretaries, receptionists and, yes, even stockbrokers, who did nothing but
go to work last Tuesday. Why do we have to take sides? Holly http://www.kundalini-gateway.org
