Subject: [K-list] Sleep Disorders and Paranormal Experiences
From: Cleocatras

On 2001/09/01 12:19, Cleocatras posted thus to the K-list: Some of you wrote me privately about the screening test for sleep apnea and
other sleep disorders. First I have to say, I just arrived at that clinic for
a first visit, and the oral screening pretty much matches the one I will copy
below, since there were three inquiries so far...

The doctor was asking if I experienced anything like an out of body
experience to which I replied that it accompanied other paranormal
experiences, like seeing and knowing things ahead of time, ie, clairvoyance.

"I have never heard of claims like this," he said... this had me pretty
stumped since if a person is experiencing OBE, why wouldnt it be that they
wouldnt eventually have other sensory clairvoyance? I thought those two
things went together?

So then, after I left, I was given this questionaire to fill out, which I
will copy here, and I said to myself after reading it, "how could it be as
people answer these questions, that they are not conveying paranormal
experiences?" His denial has me totally totally stumped! Anyway, read the
questionaire questions and tell me what you think?

Cat...

Questionaire: First section asks for physical stats and history of physical
health, then questions on alcohol, caffiene, cigarettes and marijuana and
prescription medications. Then a large section on waking and sleeping, sleep
routines and sleep hours, how you wake, sleeplessness, tiredness, wakeful
sleep, falling down when you are awake, weakness in legs while awake,
weakness or paralysis while a)going to sleep b)awakening ... then it asks:

Have you ever experienced seeing things or hearing voices or noises that
weren't real? a)on going to sleep b)during the night c)on awakening from
sleep d)during the day

Do you have difficulty breathing at night?
Have you been told you snore while asleep?
Does snoring disturb...

Have you ever experienced upon lying in bed before sleep or on awakeningfrom
sleep, a restlessness of legs, "nervous legs" "creeping crawling" sensation
of legs or twitching or jerking? (frequency, duration) Does anything relieve
the sensation?

Has anyone ever told you your arms or legs jerk or twitch while you are
apparently asleep? (frequency, duration) age of onset (the doctor mentioned
that there were some typical ages of onset) Does this symptom awaken you?

Have you ever experienced doing something without being aware at the time of
the action? (frequency)

Do you know or do others tell you that you:
talk while asleep? walk while asleep? grit teeth while asleep? wake up
screaming or afraid? have disturbing dreams? have unusual movements? awake
during the night with headaches?
