Beautiful. For me it is a symbol of earth energy rising, about to pop.
I use volcano imagery in the grounding, to represent the rising earth energy.

The Kabballah image of the tree of life is another diagram of the
chakras, and on that pattern, the secondary chakras and their issues are
illustrated clearly. The solar plexus chakra has a secondary chakra on each
side of it. The heart chakra has 2 secondary chakras above and to the
sides, at the shoulder blades in back and a few inches below the
collarbones in front. At the front, these chakras look like a multicolored
lily on each side, with the stem angling down into the heart. When mine
opened, they emitted an intoxicating fragrance that was sweet and wholly
indefinable.
At the back, they open into the wings on the cadeucus. The wings are
the key to freedom. Angels don't have wings, but people do. When your wings
are opened, you lose the insecurity about how you appear to other people,
and the need to change what other people do. You can live and let live.

Many people have tried to do that, but it is not effective because
everyone awakens differently.

Some people have a top-down opening .. their third eye might open to
spiritual insights, or they may be able to meditate and go into the light,
but when they are not meditating their life might be wreckage, with all of
the unresolved issues of the lower chakras: relationships, sex, war, money,
etc. still needing a lot of work.

Other people may have those issues worked out, and be experiencing
sexual freedom, abundance, balanced relationships and the beauty of nature,
without the mystical experiences of transcendence, and psychic powers that
come of opening the upper chakras.

There are some yogis who spend all of their time working on the higher
chakras, and achieve transcendence, but when not meditating they go around
making a lot of judgments about sex and money, the material world. They
have achieved transcendence, but they have not yet done the harder work of
bringing the higher insights into the dirt mud level of daily reality and
seeing perfection in their fellow humans and in ordinary life.

For example, in the grounding, the crown is gently opened first, to let
the light in, and the light is visualized as filling an oval shape that
covers all the major chakras except the root.. then the root is opened
enough to let the earth energy in, and after that the focus is the heart.

What opens after that, depends on the individual.. Still, opening the
crown enough to let light in, is not the same as the crown being fully
opened into cosmic consciousness, and having the root open enough to let
the earth energy in, is not necessarily the same as having the K. serpents
awakened and uncoiling. The root chakra never fully closes, or you would be
dead.. but it can be partly open and yet the serpents are still asleep.

In the east, the chakras are seen as flowers having petals, and often a
chakra will open a petal with a peak experience, and you will move onto
issues of another chakra, another peak experience, then be brought back to
the previous chakra to another peak experience that will open another
petal. You may experience the opening of a chakra several times, in
different ways over a long period as different aspects of the chakra are
opened, before the chakra is opened fully. Even then, you may experience a
"fall from grace", forgetting what you know and returning to previous
behavior as the chakra or a petal closes again.

In this way, the awakening process seldom follows a linearity that can
be measures on a "one size fits all" chart.

The crown chakra is shown as a thousand petaled lotus.. thousand being a
metaphor for infinite. Even after full awakening and self realization, when
the crown is considered to be fully opened, we continue to grow and expand
into discovering new aspects of All that Is. We are like trees, when we
stop growing, we die. The crown, the infinite petaled lotus will continue
to open more fully, as long as you are willing to keep growing.

Trying to measure your progress of awakening against some imaginary
chart is an ego game, in any case. Takes you out of the moment, into the
past or the future, judging, measuring, comparing.. ego stuff. Much better
to simply be here now.

What is more important than measuring your degree of awakenedness, is
focusing on resolving whatever issues are coming up for you, in the moment.
Examining these will tell you what chakra you are working on now. Each
chakra is related to aspects of human behavior, and looking at what issues
are active in your life will tell you what chakra you are working on. The
value of this is so that you can be more conscious of what must be surrendered.

Some issues will relate to more than one chakra... for example, empathy
is a function of the heart chakra, where the universe of duality and
separation meets the universe of non duality.. when 2 become one and share
feelings. Feeling victimized and overwhelmed by too much empathy is an
issue of the power chakra. The power chakra is about issues of faith, fear
and surrender: free will and Divine will, status and power games between
people, breath issues of abundance and scarcity of energy, and the value of
gratitude.

Similarly, someone may have an opened heart, and the Inner Guru
speaking clearly to them, yet be still immature, stuck in righteousness of
judgment, thinking that the guidance that is spoken by their own heart is a
rule that everybody is supposed to follow. An example of this might be
someone whose heart tells them to become vegetarian or celibate, becoming
very righteous and judgmental, preaching an assumption that everyone is
supposed to be vegetarian or celibate.. and there are no such universal
rules for awakening, it depends on the individual. Issues about food and
sex relate to the root and navel chakras. When they get past those issues,
their heart may open more fully and they will experience unconditional love
towards perverts and carnivores.

Someone else may have wonderful love and spiritual growth, yet have a
persistent feeling that they incarnated onto the wrong planet.. which comes
from the chakra in the sacrum not being opened fully. Yet, there are many
who are not awakened at all, that have no issues like that.

So you see, we can chart the chakras themselves and define what issues
they relate to, but we cannot predict or categorize what chakra will open
when, or how much. It is individual. It is natural to want to try to
measure your progress, but it is more effective to set that aside and just
focus on doing the best you can with whatever is coming up in the moment.
Hope that helps! Blessings..
