Dear Leaf,

This is a very interesting thing you bring up.

Curiously, I have found that I get to this state much more quickly
when I am playing certain instruments. Perhaps it has to do with the
way the instrument resonates with my body.

I played violin for 6 years before I finally had the opportunity to
pick up the cello (the instrument I was originally drawn to). In 6
months, my skill, range, and fluidity on the cello had far surpassed
those on the violin.

The violin sent all sorts of ratchety sensations through my head and
hands... I always preferred the lower strings on that instrument and
practiced hard to keep the upper notes very clear and precise to
minimize the "static".

The cello, on the other hand, sent very nice waves of feeling through
my entire body. I could practice for many hours without "waking up".

The differences were also evident in how much people enjoyed
listening to me practice. /grin/

For me, playing the cello is making love.
