Subject: [K-list] Guide me <meditation>
From: User Friendly

On 2001/06/27 08:56, User Friendly posted thus to the K-list:

I have read much on meditation yet I have
not found many articles concerning practice.
I read a post on the list recently concerning
closing the thumb and index/middle/etc fingers
to channel certain energies during meditation.
Be it psychological or not, this seems to have
a different effect when I meditate, could
someone enlighten me as to what each finger
pattern represents?

Also, could someone give me a general practice
of meditation? I usually devoid my mind of
cluttered thought and concentrate on myself,
and journey inward not into thought, but just
into being. Other times I will picture an
incredibly serene image or place and focus my
thought on it, letting my mind dissipate into
a dreamstate, but this I think only works to
relax me, and to put me to sleep =)

I know that meditation is probably different
for each person, but is there not a standard
practice, a model so to speak, for certain
goals?

Thanks and peace

----Nick
