Thanks. That sounds closer to the way I understand it.

Even given whatever genetic similarities we have to chickens, we are
still a different species and different species have different
motivations.

I know exactly how you feel. We're trapped in life long, love-hate-love
relationship with each other. I'm working on the hate, but I still don't
like some of the things we do to the Earth and one another.
