In native american shamanism ..

  Snake is transformation
  Rabbit is fear ..

Two rabbits staring at one another
two fear personality aspects of you ..
each "hypnotising" the other ..

obsession with the confrontation between these two aspects of fear
whilst you are observing them and not where you are walking

you stepped out of your vehicle
  killing your transformation ..

Question ..

  If you hadn't been compulsively observing the rabbits
  "riveted to the spot" on your path,

  would you have killed the snake ..??
