I experience sleep paralysis frequently--usually in combination with an out
of this world bliss sensation. Someone once suggested to me that this
catalepsy shares some aspects of certain stages of Samadhi or Satori. Often
this sensation will occur during the day--and I will find it hard to
move--perhaps because moving breaks the sensation! LOL! Often it is
accompanied with changes in breath patterns and/or heat.
