Hi folks, for recognition purposes, I have posted in the past via my other
hotmail account spacegypsie, but have decided to use this account for my
lists...

I have a question for anyone. recently I applied to attend my second 10 day
vipassana retreat (where you practice noble silence for 10 days and meditate
for 10 hours a day vipassana style. instruction is given by Goenka). but
they called me and told me that Goenka wants all of his old returning
students who practice reiki and other forms of energy channeling to decide
to never practice it again and commit only to vipassana as a path.

I tried to find out why this would be the case, besides understanding the
distinction between sitting with what is and channeling energy...like could
there be a disharmony between reiki and vipassana, some good reason why
reiki would thwart one's path of equanimity? but is seems to me just that
Goenka is becoming dogmatic in his un-dogmatic teachings and playing the
Guru he claims not to be through refusing to teach dharma to those who are
energy healers since it potentially could mixup the "purity" of his
technique (which I understand with or without practicing reiki, it is not
that confusing).

Any comments? just giving Goenka the benefit of the doubt, does anyone see
anything harmful in practicing reiki to self-awareness, or anything at odds
with the vipassana path of equanimity?
