that you were given as children ..
(if your childhood was anything like mine ..)

Son .. (he used to say to me)

throughout life you gotta keep

  your eye on the ball
  your shoulder to the wheel
  your feet on the ground
  your nose to the grindstone
  your hands in your pockets
  your ear to the ground
  your mind above your navel
  and your mouth shut ..

now .. have you ever tried doing all of this at the same time
and trying to get anything else done ..?
