Maybe your responsibility/karma in this situation was more
around your choice to stay in a job in proximity
to a really yucky person? And thereby setting
yourself up to be vulnerable to her crappy choices?

I think we reap what we sow, but there are wild "random" factors afoot
as well- we really can be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Sometimes the only "lesson" to be learned from a bad experience
is "how can I spot the wrong place
and notice the bad timing a bit quicker next time around"...
and sometimes we couldn't really do any better than we did.

My views aren't so common among the people who post on this list,
but they are the best description I've got of what I've witnessed in life.
I try in articulating my beliefs to stay true to what I've
actually seen/experienced, rather than reaching
for a philosophy that doesn't
match what I've lived even if it sounds much
nicer and ties up the "loose ends"
of the universe into a far neater package.

I do think I distrust
tidyness- workshops in use are a pleasureable combination of order
and chaos, and I do think we live in a world that is ever and always a
"work in progress".

To sum my take on karma, I'd say "Shit happens, and if you behave
like a real shit, shit especially happens- to you."
