BOG GAZING IN WINTER
What lies beneath the blanket
  of bluewhite snow;
protected from the winds
   which blow
     so cold.

The pawprints entice me
  through the trees to follow
the unknown path
   which travels to morrow.

Yet, here I sit, feeling young,
  but being old,
keeping life simple and pure,
   knowing that I know.

STARK BEAUTY

Against a palette of gray
the trees display their bare beauty...
nature's truth.

Awaiting the impending storm,
feeling the cold rain.

Thankful for the security of the seasons,
which cycle again, and again.
********
