Subject: [K-list] Reality Truth, Illusion and Belief

Nowadays the meanings of the words 'reality' and 'truth' have become rather
ambiguous.

Both 'truth' and 'reality' used to mean something rather absolute that
pertained to everybody and everything forever and ever.

However in the third quarter the last century, the 'New Age' movement
introduced into the popularised philosophies and psychologies of the day
expressions like "your truth" and "your reality".

These word sets came to express a new individuality, authenticity (and
reactiveness) of the 'flower power' youth and the general 'adolescentia'
frequenting post war high school and college. A wide ranged generation of
youth effecting a timely and mostly justified rebelliousness that became
trendy in the sixties and seventies and still lingers in that wider age
group. The 'new age psychologies' were peer (pressure) induced, and they
also became rather unchallenged within the peer groups themselves. (You wore
'your truth' and 'your reality' in your bell-bottomed, brand named
'personalized' and 'customized' designer jeans. The sense of individuality
and originality marketed to and accepted by youthful masses of more or less
identical individuals.
Ah, the hardship of being 'you' in the 'me' age.
Of course a new course had to be found, rebelliousness against the old order
was challenging blind acceptance of the kind of 'truth and reality' that was
not personally and newly discovered and experienced ("Are you experienced?"
Jimmy Hendrix). Pretty strong and good stuff. That had to happen as it 'has
to happen periodically', and luckily it did.

But...

Nothing wrong with challenging beliefs, concepts and assumptions that seem
to have been valid for ages. It seems now though, that we may have to
re-evaluate the resulting current uses of ideas, meaning and language as we,
(the 'adolescent of then' now aging so 'nicely') are still using that newer
trendier terminology while becoming more and more deeply familiar with older
scripture and literature and the original truth and reality covered therein.
Scriptures, using ideas though, that are translated in an older English and
not necessarily by translators who knew fully what the texts were about,
using words who's meanings also do not overlap current understanding and
word usage.

A real trap that!

It is here where misunderstandings start to abound. It is also here that WE
have to challenge again what we kind of blindly and trendily came to believe
in. Especially when words started shifting their meaning.
In the older literature, when ideas and observations are encountered and
discussed that are of a personal and not generally verifiable (to common
mankind) nature, words like illusion and delusion are assigned to it. The
very fact that some statement could be 'your truth at this moment' was seen
as evidence of "impermanence that would lead to personal suffering." the
illusiveness or delusion of a 'world of make belief' that is mentally
propagated and processed as though as real as the physical world.

What a long winded way to support my statement that entities do not exist
except as 'in the mind of the beholder' who through conditioning and
conditional circumstances attributes 'reality' to them and may act
accordingly, thus influencing the world of physical reality and using the
physical change (the impermanence) as proof that the entities were just as
physically real in the first place.

Dear Paul you answered to the following (my words):
> What are entities then...? Vestiges of memories of some physical person,
> physically violating your personal gross and subtle energy space. And you
> sensed it (the violating abuses) and stored them as memories for later
> processing... The nature of violation is that it prevents you to process
> and take appropriate defensive and self liberating action at the moment of
> violation, the violator would love you to forget it (or him or her) and
> blame yourself etc...

What is important Paul, is that she speak for herself and not 'you for her'.
There is an extensive range of manipulative manoeuvres that come with the
'world of delusion'. For a deeply loving person, like you, who
compassionately understands the suffering, it is not easy to separate the
manipulative needy requirements (illusive measures to try to influence
physical realty) from the original pain that needs a different treatment

How does one deal with pain?
One does not deal with it !
One just undergoes pain,
One lets it be,
The body,
when left alone,
when not interfered with mentally
will handle it....)
---------

Jesus dealt intensively with the idea of possession and exorcism, but he
actually never used the word devil or satan in a personified context, the
word 'evil' he did use but also the word 'faith' (not belief) and living in
truth. His was the Way of Truth and Life. A natural realism based on natural
agricultural, fishery and monetary realities and ways of living. Poor
translation and medieval symbolism has given form and shape to 'possessing
entities', 'satanized' psychological states. Satan did not exist, when Jesus
was in the desert for 40 days, he went exactly through that discovery. I
have written about that elsewhere and do no want to repeat it here again.

By the way, as far as 'objects flying through the air', some forms of
telekinesis, etc., I have been able to confront two clients of mine with
this viewpoint (which is very hard to do as their defence mechanism are so
geared to prevent confrontation ... seeing things up front). Subsequently
they discovered that they were suffering from dissociative identity
disorder.
An example, one enraged identity of a client would fling a vase through the
air, another identity, always coming in after rage was expressed, would not
remember anything but could only report the appearance of broken glasswork
or reorganized furniture.
Another example, about knocking sounds. I have also been able to have a
client recover the memory of a brother teasing her with mysterious knocking
coming from the sloped wooden ceilings of the attic were both slept, him
scaring the living daylight out of her. When that client, later in life,
came to be keyed in through some unrelated (?) fearful circumstances, she
would enter a dissociated state in which the memory of the knocking sounds
amplified and were reactivated and processed as real, her fear preventing
her from hearing 'nothing', the mind's ear reproducing passed reality as
currently taking place.

Paul, the examples above may seem somewhat anecdotal and superficial, they
may not seem to be of the same depths as your friend's suffering... Well,
they are the tip of the iceberg, in one case 30 years of intense weeping,
anger, suffering and manipulation, broken glasswork and husband abuse (Yes,
him receiving the black eyes, bite mark and flesh wounds).

Surely, the result of illusion and the ensuing suffering from illusion, has
an effect on physical reality... e.g.: wife, child or husband beating is a
definite sensed reality that has to be dealt with.

It is here that the law of causality, the idea if impermanence and the
illusive nature of the mind's processing of reality was brought in by the
philosophers, psychologist and wise people of the day (That fantastic line
of bodhisattvas, buddhas, messiahs, prophets.)
I see this slightly different than the Buddha, I've written about that
before. I do not think that physical nature's laws of action / reaction is
the problem but 'human nature's' habituations of 'action / counter action',
or 'action / stopping action' thereby creating recoil. That 'recoil' is what
is 'suffering' something not found in 'natural nature', if I mat say it that
way.

Black Magic is only real if the recipient is well prepared and
preconditioned to perform steps and actions of fear, a learned behaviour
that has to be acquired or taught first before the illusiveness of spells,
sentencing and curses can take on the appearance of reality.

So de-magine the entities... One may have to suffer the fear, surrender to
it, succumb, 'lose it'. As long as one does not act out what fear and it's
prescriptions force you to act, out one is safe...
Lose it, as you are not a loser.

Love, Wim
